Book Review: The Wonder Engine
April 25, 2025
The romance aspect that I was on the fence about in book one becomes pretty central to the plot this time. Also, the sequel is not to be read without reading the first part. I still think these two should have been one book.
I liked the characters and the prose throughout. The resolution of the conflict with the Clocktaurs was earned but not spectacular. The resolution after the climax dragged on some.
I tend to enjoy T. Kingfisher quite a bit. This is not one of her strongest works, however. Read the Clocktaur War duology if you're already a fan. Start with the Sworn Soldier if you're new.
